  • what is a better iPad racing game?

I just got my iPad today and was wondering, what is a better racing game overall? Asphalt 5 or Firemint’s Real Racing? Tell me what you think and why you think either 1 is better… Thanks for the replies!

1 Civilization Revolution ($12.99)- Oh Civ Rev. You’ve burned through my iPhone battery more times than I can count. I’m an absolute Civ fiend, so I was very pleased to see the new iPad version and aside from frequent crashes I think this version has a considerable leg up on the iPhone version, especially thanks to the larger screen. The automatic save system is a lifesaver because the app will – and does crash. 2K definitely needs to fix the stability issues.
2 Fieldrunners HD ($7.99) – I spent a few sleepless nights with Fieldrunners and the HD version adds little to the tried and true tower defense formula. However, I did notice a considerable improvement in gameplay especially since you can now see all your defense pieces in close-up and are more encouraged to upgrade them during play. The AI has been dumbed down a bit on easier levels, allowing you to mow down wave after wave of enemies with nary a thought.
3 Flight Control HD ($4.99) – I’m a nervous flier so I always like to fire this game up during periods of relative turbulence and bring my little, brightly colored planes into their hangars. The HD version has an anaglyphic 3D mode for those with red and blue glasses, which is quite a bit of fun. Like Fieldrunners, you can actually tell what airplane is going where in this version. The music is also quite calming.
4 Real Racing HD ($9.99) – You know a racing game is good when you can hardly steer your car through the hairpin turns. Real Racing HD is a great game for showing off the iPad’s 3D capabilities, as my four-year-old son can attest. He always brings the iPad over to people to “show” them the game and then ends up playing it until we take it away from him.
5 N.O.V.A. ($9.99) – It’s not quite Halo, but N.O.V.A.’s great graphics reminds me a lot of Doom on the PC way back when: not quite amazing but still amazing enough considering the platform and historical horrible-ness of portable FPSes.

I like Need for Speed and Asphalt 5

Besides racing games, N.O.V.A is stunning on iPad.

I am playing We Rule at the moment. It’s free and fun. My game ID senarstyle.
You didn’t ask but since you got iPad recently so I am just letting you know, GoodReader is a must have app.
It can download email attachment, it can download almost anything from web
It supports google doc,iDisk and you can import all your photos to this app and zip it and send to your friends all the photos together.

  • Is the iPad good for college students?

I would like to have an iPad for entertainment purposes, but I heard of the "iWorks" app that’s good for business work. I’m a Business Management major in college who wants something light weight to take notes in school. Is the iPad (besides entertainment purposes) good for note taking in classroom atmospheres?

    • Brian 2:22 am on September 2, 2010 Permalink

Even though the iPad would be good for college, I would think that just getting a laptop would be better here.

Although typing notes and other things on the iPad is easier than typing stuff on an iPhone or an iPod Touch (once you get used to it), nothing beats typing on a PC.

The main problem with getting an iPad is being stuck dealing with Apple’s restrictive software, which can made significantly better by jailbreaking, but still.

The iPad itself costs as much as a laptop, which can have better hardware than the iPad, plus can do so much more.

If you can, I would just get a laptop.

      I hope this helps!

iPad is a better option for various reasons. It has notes app that let you write the notes and record the lecture at the same time and you can also surf wikipedia or goggle scholar at the same time so whole experience increase the productivity.

It has iWork which is wonderful plus it has many CRM and Business Management study guides plus functional app.

Typing is easy on iPad I can type faster on iPad than I do on PC. Another big reason to have iPad is if you suddenly wanna take some notes, record voice or anything else, you wont have to boot it , you can keep iPad open always even then battery lasts well over 12 hours.

I use iPad for my official work and it runs about 15 hours at one charge.

iWork uploads file to iWork.com so files can be accessed from anywhere. It has app Goodreader that can download anything from any website.
GoodReader also organize all the email attachments from all the account at one place so it’s easy to find important attachments.
You can transfer documents to google doc or any other online service from this app.
Files that are saved in one app,can easily be accessed from other apps.

If you save something on you computer in Instapaper or Evernote , you will instantly see on iPad.
To upload files to different WebDAV servers you don’t need to open several tabs as you do on PC , you just select files and tap it. You are done. It makes us realize how old school PCs are.

All these things can be done by a laptop too but iPad is a faster and lighter way to do it.

I assume you have a home computer. So get the iPad , it much better than any laptop for study or business purposes.

  • Can i buy a iPad from America and take it back to the uk?

may there be some extra costs besides the iPad it’s self ?

    • Halo 12:08 am on September 2, 2010 Permalink

When you go through customs they may ask you to pay duty on it. You will have to change the charger plug to a UK one.

  • Does anyone have news on the next generation ipods or ipad?

You know of some sights i kind find news about the ipod touch 4g and the ipad 2g. I plan on getting 1 of these.

  • Should I get an iPad or Kindle for ebooks?

I want to get the best platform for my wife for his 30th. he loves to read. investigating the best experience for his. I know that the iPad is significantly more pricey, but does it deliver more for the price? Or should I go for an established and lit-specific device like the Kindle?

  • If i bought an iPad in america over the internet how much would it price?

I live in the uk and am just wondering if there was some problems if i bought an iPad from USA and then used it in the uk. How much would it price e.g. vat, postage and packaging etc… and isit the best idea. Would save me a lot of money if i did it this way.

    • mike 6:22 pm on September 1, 2010 Permalink

Don’t do it as it will probably take 2-3 weeks to get here , you pay around 35 extra dollars for shipping and also I think you have the idea that alot of British have that everything in America is "half off" then what is in Britain. In America the Ipad is priced around 600 dollars but in England its priced around 300 pounds. So it’s actually more expensive in the USA then in England ( Those prices are from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk by the way ) so yeah buy it in England

  • Should I buy an ipad or an underwater camera?

I’m on the fence and apple ipad or a camera that can take underwater pictures and videos?

    • John P 4:22 am on September 1, 2010 Permalink

The choice seems odd, weird. They are two such different objects.

    • Alexa 4:22 am on September 1, 2010 Permalink

since you put this in Cameras i suppose you want a camera
an Apple IPad DOES NOT have a camera
      i know :(
an underwater camera is always good and less breakable as an IPad

    • ranger_diy 4:22 am on September 1, 2010 Permalink

An iPad would probably be more useful.

  • What are some helpful things about a iPad for college?

I have a iPad and I start college next month. What are some helpful tips that a iPad can help me do with my homework and ext? I’m a freshman in college and some suggestions about college would be good! :)

Some apps you might want to add could include a calculator, a program that let’s you take handwritten notes, a word processing program (actually all the iWorks programs) and a dictionary. Getting a stylus would help you make written notes more quickly, and more legibly too.

I use my iPad for a lot of writing and when I travel. I have all of the above, and I also have a couple weather apps, a ton of music (don’t forget headphones), one app that works with about a dozen IM programs and a PDF reader.

  • How can I download mp3 music into an ipad?

You have to install iTunes program on your computer and connect your iPad via USB port.
If you don’t have any MP3’s on your computer, you can download it from http://www.mp3eye.com mp3 search engine.

Combining iPad manager, iPad transfer and iPad converter into one, Xilisoft iPad Magic helps Apple iPad tablet users to manage, organize, transfer, and convert media files to iPad. That means, as an iPad transfer, it can backup and transfer movies and music between iPad and your computer. As an iPad converter, it helps convert videos/audios/CD/DVD/ISO images/IFO folder to iPad supported formats, and as an iTunes surrogate, the iPad tool can copy iPad contents to iTunes.

If you already have mp3’s on your computer, open the mp3 with iTunes, and then connect the iPad. Sync the song/s onto the iPad.

    • Chris B 12:20 am on September 1, 2010 Permalink

If you use the USB cord and plug directly to a desktop with music on it, it usually automatically grabs all the songs off the desktop

      Easy!

Check out this video that shows you How to Download or Record TV Shows and Movies and add them to your iPad

The video explains how to do this with VIDEOS – but the same program works with mp3 audio :-)

Pavtube iPad Converter is the best to give you a reliable working performance. The interface of Pavtube video to iPad converter is very clean and well suited to task. I had no problem to find all the relevant options or understand them. Best of all, it performances as advertised without any audio and video out of sync issues, and is well suited for rendering YouTube/FLV files viewable on your iPad or iPad Wi-Fi+3G.

      The reasons maybe:
      1. your video is DRM protected. (Note, videos from itunes store, amazon are DRM protected.)

      2. the videopix cant read the videos. I learned that videopix can only read what ipod, iphone, ipad play.

If you are to grab still image or frames with videopix, while the video format is not supported by videopix, the video converter is a good choice which provides you one-process solution.

hi, guy, first you have know the best video format for iPad touch is 1024 × 768 mp4(AVC/H.264 video encode, aac audio encode) format, so you need to use a right software to convert your video to iPad mp4 videos, then you can transfer to your iPad.

first, convert ur vids to Apple iPad H.264 Video (*.mp4) with SnowFox DVD & Video to iPad Converter. It could Rip any dvds and convert any video to ipad supported video format. more convenient is that it could add the converted videos to iTunes automatically, and what i need do is just to drag the files to my iPad.
      http://www.snowfoxsoft.com/dvd-video-to-ipad-converter.html
Btw, I tested many rippers others recommended to me and I decide to try SnowFox DVD & Video to iPad Converter, not only because of its powerful conversion, but also of its superior video quality. And this converter could be compatible with my brother’s iPhone and iPod too.
Try it and hope it could help. Good luck :D
