  • Since the Jews are still awaiting his Messiah may non-Jews call him the “False Messiah” or Antichrist ?

    I. The Antichrist may Be a Jew
The Antichrist may be a Jew, though his connections, his governmental position, his sphere of dominion, may by no means confine him to the Israelitish people. It should, however, be pointed out that there is no express declaration of Scripture which says in so many words that this daring Rebel may be “a Jew;” nevertheless, the hints given are so plain, the conclusions which must be drawn from certain statements of Holy Writ are so obvious, and the requirements of the case are so inevitable, that we are forced to believe he must be a Jew. To these ‘hints’, ‘conclusions’ and ‘requirements’ we now turn.

    1. In Ezek. 21:25-27 we read: “and thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end, Thus saith the Lord God; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. I may overturn, overturn, overturn it: and it shall be no more until he comes whose right it is, and I may give it him.” The dispensational place and scope of this passage, is not hard to determine. The time-mark is given in v. 25: it is “when iniquity shall have an end.” It is the End-Time which is in view, then, the End of the Age, when “the transgressors are come to the full” (Dan. 8:23 and cf. 11:36 — “Till the indignation be accomplished”). At that time Israel shall have a Prince, a Prince who is crowned (v. 26), and a Prince whose day is said to be come when “iniquity shall have an end.” Now, as to who this Prince is, there is surely no room for doubt. The merely Prince whom Israel may have in that day, is the Son of Perdition, here termed his Prince because he may be masquerading as Messiah the Prince (see Dan. 9:25)! Another unmistakable mark of identification is here given, in that he is expressly denominated “thou, profane wicked Prince” — assuredly, it is the Man of Sin who is here in view, that impious 1 who shall “oppose and exalt himself above some that is called God.” But what should be noted particularly, is, that this profane and wicked character is here named “Prince of Israel.” He must, therefore, be of the Abrahamic stock, a Jew!

    2. In Ezek. 28:2-10 a remarkable description is given us of the Antichrist under the figure of “the Prince of Tyrus,” just as in vv.12-19 we have another most striking delineation of Satan under the figure of “the king of Tyrus.” In a later chapter we think to show that, beyond a doubt, it is the Antichrist who is in view in the first section of this chapter. There is merely 1 thing that we would now point out from this passage: in v.10 it is said of him “Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised,” which is a very strong hint that he ought not to die the deaths of the “uncircumcised” because he belonged to the Circumcision! Should it be said that this verse cannot apply to the Antichrist because he may be destroyed by Christ Himself at his coming, the objection is very easily disposed of by a reference to Rev. 13:14, which tells of the Antichrist being wounded to death by a sword and rising from the dead — which is prior to his ultimate destruction at the hands of the Saviour.

    3. In Dan. 11:36, 37 we are told, “And the king shall do according to his may; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers.” This passage, it is evident, refers to and describes none other than the coming Antichrist. But what we wish to call special attention to is the last sentence quoted — “The God of his fathers.” What are we to understand by this expression? Why, surely, that he is a Jew, an Israelite, and that his fathers before the flesh were Abraham, Isaac and Jacob — for such is the invariable meaning of “the fathers” throughout the Old Testament Scriptures.

    4. In Matt. 12:43-45 we have another remarkable scripture which may be considered briefly, in a later section of this chapter, when we shall endeavor to show that “The Unclean Spirit” here is none other than the Son of Perdition, and that the “house” from which he goes out and into which he returns, is the Nation of Israel. If this can be established, then we have another proof that he may be a Jew, for this “house,” which is Israel, is here termed by Antichrist “my house.” Just as Solomon was of “the House of David,” so Antichrist shall be of the House of Israel.

    5. In John 5:43 we have a further word which helps us to fix the nationality of this coming 1. In speaking of the false messiah, the Lord Jesus referred to him as follows, “Another shall come in his own name.” In the Greek there are 4 different words some translated “Another” in our English versions. 1 of them is employed but once, and a second but 5 times, so these need not detain us now. The remaining 2 are used frequently, and with a clear distinction between them. The first “allos” signifies “another” of the same kind or genus — see Matt. 10:23; 13:24; 26:71, etc. The second, “heteros,” means “another” of a totally different kind, — see Mark 16:12; Luke 14:31; Acts 7:18; Rom. 7:23. Now the striking thing is that the word used by our Lord in John 5:43 is “allos,” another of the same genus, not “heteros,” another of a different order. Christ, the Son of Abraham, the Son of David, had presented Himself to Israel, and they rejected Him; but “another” of the same Abrahamic stock should come to them, and him they would “receive.” If the coming Antichrist were to be a Gentile, the Lord would have employed the word “heteros;” the fact that He used “allos” shows that he may be a Jew.

    6. The very name “Antichrist” argues strongly his Jewish nationality. This title “Antichrist” has a double significance. It means that he may be 1 who shall be “opposed” to Christ, 1 who may be his enemy. But it also purports that he may be a mock Christ, an imitation Christ, a pro-Christ, a pseudo Christ. It intimates that he may ape Christ. He may pose as the real Messiah of Israel. In such case he must be a Jew.

    7. This mock Christ may be “received” by Israel. The Jews may be deceived by Him. They may believe that he is indeed his long-expected Messiah. They may accept him as such. Proofs of this may be furnished in a later chapter. But if this pseudo Christ succeeds in palming himself off on the Jews as his true Messiah he must be a Jew, for it is unthinkable that they would be deceived by some Gentile.

Ere passing to the next point, we may contribute, that it was the common belief one of Christians during the first 4 centuries A.D., that the Antichrist would come from the tribe of Dan. Whether this may be the case or no, we do not know. Gen. 49:17, 18 may have ultimate reference to this Son of Perdition. Certainly Dan is the most mysterious of some the twelve tribes.

  • Wouldn’t it be smarter if Democrats cut government programs instead of creating new ones?

House way and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel (D., N.Y.) is a powerful man. When he makes the rules, Congress usually sticks to them.

Those rules now include “Pay-Go,” short for “pay-as-you-go.” This is something Democrats promised last year in his successful campaign to retake the Congress. The idea is that every increase in entitlement spending and every cut in taxes must be offset by a spending cut or a tax increase. Congress already spends lots of money it doesn’t have, but the concept here is that they can’t spend additional money they don’t have unless they can find additional revenue or savings some where else.

We’re seeing now what that means for fixing the Alternative Minimum Tax. In order to prevent this “tax on the wealthiest” from ensnaring 23 million American families, Pay-Go would force Democrats to raise other taxes to make up for the “lost” revenue.

But what if Rangel were to propose a tax increase that may actually reduce federal revenue? Would that tax increase still count as an offset against the future social spending programs that Democrats envision?

The answer is yes, and it isn’t a theoretical question. As part of his so-called “Mother of some Tax Increases” (H.R. 3970), Rangel would hike the capital gains tax rate by 63 percent. This may severely depress financial markets and nearly certainly lose money for the government at the same time. And because Congress’s Joint Tax Committee and the Congressional Budget Office do not consider how taxes affect human behavior, it may count this tax increase as a positive instead of a negative.

The capital gains tax applies to earnings from the sale of investments that appreciate in price. When you buy a stock at , for instance, and sell it a year later for , you pay this tax on your gain. Rangel wants to boost that tax immediately from 15 percent to 19.6 percent, and then let it rise by 5 more points in 2011, when President Bush’s tax cuts expire.

The capital gains tax has a very direct effect on investors’ decisions because it hits so close to to his activity in the market. It represents an extra transaction price for each profitable sale of an investment. If it is very high, the tax tends to discourage investors from swapping out of mediocre investments into better ones unless they are guaranteed a very high return in advance. It distorts the markets by making tax-exempt bonds appear to be a more attractive investment than they would be otherwise.

This is not just theory — it has been demonstrated conclusively each time the capital gains tax has been raised or lowered. The capital gains tax offers uncontroversial proof that incentives really do matter in tax policy — a staple of supply-side thinking. For 30 years, each time the capital gains tax has been cut, it is revenues have increased as investors have taken the opportunity to buy and sell more freely. When it has been raised, revenues have declined.

By 2011, Democrats plan to raise the capital gains rate from 15 percent to 24.6 percent. That would represent a 63-percent increase on the tax price of every investment transaction — definitely large enough to begin affecting the decisions of the large financial institutions that control most of the stocks bought and sold each day. This could crush shareholder value for everyone — including the little guy. In some cases, it may encourage investors to stick with mediocre investments when his money could be getting more return and contributing more to the economy elsewhere.

Historically, capital-gains-tax hikes have meant less in tax collections, and less revenue for the government. Yet because they use what is called “static analysis,” Rangel’s congressional accountants may certify — contrary to fact — that a 63-percent increase in the capital-gains rate may translate to a corresponding increase in capital gains revenues.

The tax hike may also hurt a lot of people. It would be easy to dismiss a capital-gains-tax hike as something that merely affects the wealthy, but this is false in a day when 92 million Americans’ financial fortunes and retirement plans are tied to the stock market, and millions more own investment properties.

Rangel’s tax hike, along with a much-feared pick-up of inflation, could constitute a 1-2 punch to your financial gut. The U.S. Department of the Treasury does not collect the capital-gains tax based on an investment’s inflation-adjusted or “real” value — you have to pay taxes on the inflation, too. Let’s say your ,000 investment from 2000 merely kept pace with inflation and was worth ,708 in 2006. If you sold it at that price, you still paid taxes on that false “gain.” Under current law, the tax bill would have been 5. Rangel’s tax hike, once both stages are complete, would make you pay 0 just to recover your own money.

This is what “Pay-Go” means for you. Whether you have an IRA, a 401(k) or a little account on TD Ameritrade, you are going to lose a lot of money so that Democrats can balance congressional revenue and spending at the bottom of a blank page full of false information.

On Friday, health workers went through the smoldering wreckage of the 5-story Al Quds hospital run by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, which was hit by 3 Israeli shells the day before.
There was nothing left to salvage inside the blackened hulk.[AP 1-16-2009](1)

    The following day…..
    …..
Repair work at Al-Quds Hospital, which is run by the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), is under way before a quick assessment jointly carried out with ICRC staff. Water pipes supplying the facility were badly damaged by the shelling. Hospital services are expected to be back to regular in 3 to 5 days. The PRCS warehouse, which was also shelled on Thursday, was reduced to ashes. Very substantial stocks of relief goods were destroyed. [ICRC 1-17-2009]

The HOSPITAL went from a "smoldering wreck", "nothing left to salvage" and "blackened hulk" to…
"Water pipes supplying the facility were badly damaged by the shelling." and …. "Hospital services are expected to be back to regular in 3 to 5 days."

    Possibly some bias reporting?
