    If you are talking about federal and make less than a certain amount (not sure what that is) go to the irs web site and go to free file and see if you can do it for free.

    For free try http://www.irs.gov. You have to be below a certain income level – also that site does not do state taxes. You will have to find other ways to file your state taxes if you do the free filing on the irs website.

    Here is a website that lists several online tax preparation sites. Some have free federal and all of them are pretty cheap and they do both federal and state taxes.

    If you made under $54,000, you can qualify to e-file your federal return for free. The IRS website lists the tax services available for free e-file.
    You can prep/e-file your state return with the same service but depending on your state, you may have to pay extra.
    If it’s not free, you can go to your state’s Dept. of Revenue/Taxation and file from there.
